Assessing the impact of interventions in elderly cognitive wellbeing

Researchers at the NCSEM-EM recently held an event focusing on physical and cognitive wellbeing interventions for the elderly.

The event brought together professionals working with the elderly in the community and academics from Loughborough University to showcase methods of assessing the effectiveness of these interventions.

The attendees were able to find out about various measurement tools, their outcomes and how and where they could be used, and information was provided on different potential sources of funding such as Alzheimer’s Research UK. The attendees also shared examples of their own interventions and experiences, discussing the barriers faced in delivering the projects and possible solutions for overcoming them.

Findings from the event will contribute to a PhD project looking at how older adults exercise and an interactive web resource which will advise users on the most suitable way to measure the effectiveness of their interventions.
