Exercise as medicine – seminars for GPs and healthcare professionals

Loughborough University academics will be running two seminar evenings to share evidence-based knowledge and understanding on using physical activity for the prevention and management of common medical conditions relevant to primary care.

The sessions will take place on Thursday 19 September and Thursday 26 September, 4-7pm, and will look at the role of physical activity in:

Session 1

• Weight management
• Glucose regulation
• Managing cardiovascular risk
• Healthy ageing

Session 2

• Mental health (depression and anxiety)
• Cancer survivorship
• Motivation and adherence (to physical activity)
• The role of technology in supporting healthy
lifestyle behaviours

The sessions will be held at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine (room 1.39). The cost to attend is £30 and this covers both seminars, with delegates ideally attending both dates.
