Participants needed for study looking at the effect of body composition on muscle responses to exercise

Loughborough University is recruiting participants for a research study to investigate whether being overweight or obese weakens muscle growth responses to exercise, a factor that may increase the likelihood of developing metabolic diseases like Type 2 diabetes.

We are looking for healthy men who meet the following criteria:

  • non-smokers
  • aged between 18-40 years
  • body mass index (BMI) greater than 30kg/m2
  • free from a history of heart disease and metabolic diseases

If you take part, you will be asked to attend two laboratory testing sessions (the first lasting three hours and the second lasting seven hours).

If you are interested in receiving more information about the study, please contact Dr Carl Hulston: 01509 225449 or c.j.hulston@lboro.ac.uk or Dr Rachel Woods: 01509 226347 or r.m.woods@lboro.ac.uk
