Research participants wanted for study looking at the influence of repeated biopsies on inflammatory responses in adipose tissue

Academics at Loughborough University’s School of Sport, Exercise and Health Sciences are looking for volunteers to help with a study looking at the influence of repeated biopsies on inflammatory responses in adipose tissue. 

The team is looking for participants who are:

  • A healthy, non-smoking man or woman, aged between 20-50 years with Body Mass Index (BMI) <40 kg/m2
  • Carry more weight than you like around your waist (waist circumference: ≥94cm/≥90cm (men/Asian men) and ≥80cm (women))

You will be invited to complete a one-hour screening visit (after a 12-hour overnight fast), a 30-minute familiarisation visit and one four-hour study visit (after a 12-hour overnight fast).

During your study visit you will be asked to fast and undergo:

  • Body composition assessment
  • One blood sample
  • Three abdominal fat (adipose) biopsy samples

You will be reimbursed for your time.
