Women in Logistics - exploring Driver Health

Dr Veronica Varela Mato, Research Associate and Project Manager of the SHIFT Study (Structured Health Intervention For Truckers), will be giving a presentation on the SHIFT project on Thursday 31st January.

Organised by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, the presentation will include the study’s inception and evolution with interactive elements and exercises. In addition to the presentation, there is the opportunity to discuss the SHIFT project and associated health issues that lorry drivers experience, whilst also exploring some of the following thought provoking questions:

  • How can the sector support SHIFT or any health strategy to ultimately support lorry drivers in achieving a healthy lifestyle?
  • Why is this occupational group so heavily male dominated and what barriers are faced by women to get involved?
  • What health-related changes are necessary within the sector to encourage more women to become a lorry driver?

The event will take place on the Loughborough University campus between 6-8pm.
