Your help is needed to update key exercise referral resource

Loughborough University is looking for people who are working in, or have previously worked in, exercise referral schemes to complete a short questionnaire. This is to help gain an understanding of the needs of people working in this area and what can be done to support.

In 2010, the British Heart Foundation National Centre for Physical Activity and Health, led on the development of a toolkit to support professionals in developing high quality exercise referral schemes. This resource is still hugely popular but the past 12 years has seen huge leaps forwards in the way in which the sector operates. There has been the emergence of new physical activity and sports strategies, changes in health service structures and the emergence of social prescribing.

Loughborough University is working with Move Consulting on a project to understand the need and scope for the redevelopment of a new toolkit for the creation of ‘supported pathways’ for people to develop a physically active lifestyle.

The survey is open to people working in all aspects of exercise referral including referring healthcare professionals, exercise professionals, scheme coordinators and commissioners. It should take around 15 minutes to complete and is really important in helping shape this key physical activity guidance.

If you are unable to complete the survey but would like to be kept up to date about developments in this project please provide your email address: https://www.ncsem-em.org.uk/exercise-referral-toolkit-update
