NHS workers to save thousands in new healthy commute scheme

Sustrans are working with the NHS Trusts of Barts Health and Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals (BHRUT) to help employees swap driving for more active travel.

Together, the Trusts have over 16,000 members of staff.

Across England, 3.5% of all road traffic relates to NHS patients, visitors, staff and suppliers.

This project will help to reduce the NHS’s carbon footprint and cut local air pollution on employees’ commutes.

It will be implemented at multiple sites throughout Waltham Forest, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Barking and Dagenham, Redbridge, Havering and the City of London.
