Woman(kind)ness, Strength and Resilience: A celebration of women worldwide 2017

A series of events will be held at Loughborough University between 6-11 March as part of the celebrations for International Women’s Day.

Photo and art exhibitions, theatre performances, crafts and science-based public talks aiming to celebrate women worldwide will be held across campus and in the wider Loughborough community. The events are aimed at raising awareness of women’s roles in different sociocultural environments, highlighting gender inequalities and proposing creative ways towards gender equity and equality.

The following themed photo exhibitions will be on show in The Street in the NCSEM-EM building and nearby Martin Hall from 6-10 March:

  • Pilgrimage | Kev Ryan (Charnwood Arts) | Location: NCSEM – The Street
  • Resilient Women | Francine Aubry (Charnwood Arts) | Location: NCSEM – The Street
  • Maya women in the 21st century | Inês Varela-Silva and the Maya Project | Location: Martin Hall (Loughborough University)
  • Migration, nutrition and ageing: Bangladesh-UK | Vanja Garaj and The MINA Project | Location: NSCEM – The Street
  • Olympic Swimmers | Angela Edward (Charnwood Arts) | Location: NCSEM – The Street

The programme of events has been organised in collaboration with Charnwood Arts, Living Without Abuse-Loughborough, and Human Rights and Equalities Charnwood.
